Or would you call it wire-y?
I expected nothing going into Casshern Sins and I came out of the episode pleasantly surprised. It had it’s problems in that we have an amnesiac, angsty anti-hero who has no idea why people are after him (too typical) and you’re literally dumped into the setting with absolutely no idea what’s going on (and by the end of the episode, you’re still not sure about the details). The OP (though the music itself is good) is poorly animated and doesn’t suit the style of the series at all (you’d probably think it was some sort of adventure show) and the ED’s just plain boring, but otheriwse, it was quite a good first episode. I love post-apocolyptic settings, and the show’s all dirty, dusty and grimy with a sense of survival of the fittest about it. The design is (apparently) old and retro and I love the style (though the panty shots of the girl robot I could’ve done without).

The plot, though obscure at the moment, has potential in my eyes, though along with Birdy and WOrl Destruction, I’m getting tired of the end of the world type shows. The animation and fight choreography really kept the pace of the action scenes up (Side Note: Casshern completely SAVAGES anything in his way for some reason and has a pair of tonfas(?) strapped to his side which we never even get to see used) and the BGM was okay, suiting each scenes with an orchestral score (which I always like).

This guy’s not evil.
No way.
I must have some sort of inclination to unpopular or underrated shows, because I’m pretty sure I’m going to blog this. Hopefully, Casshern mans up rather than being a HUGELY POWERFUL but shy and emo protagonist.
Dude with the hood looks like Dr. Doom.
@Zan
Casshern has nothing on the Fantastic Four.
Woooowwwwww. Humongodongously different opinions here. I loved it.
The OP is rather catchy. Not bad, but it isn’t the best either. I loved the Ending, and I don’t think it’s boring at all. And ANN summaries clear up most of the confusion. BUT. We do agree on one thing: “I love post-apocolyptic settings, and the show’s all dirty, dusty and grimy with a sense of survival of the fittest about it.”
@Hoshi
Not HUMONGODONGOUSLY different, I did like the show. I just think that there were things that couldv’e been improved on. But if you’re talking solely about the OP and ED we’ll just have to agree to disagree :p.
“The OP (though the music itself is good) is poorly animated”
This would be correct if you said. “The animation of the OP (or lack thereof) is poor”
I decided to try this out….but was greeted with wierd presentation and slow pace. But I also got violence so it’s all good.
@Avisch
What’s wrong with mah english ;_;?
Violence make everything good.
[...] Casshern Sins [...]
…Does anyone here not realize that this is a remake of the ’70s/’80s versions? (the latter sucked)
They were pretty much the same thing, but with absolutely horrible dialogue.
@Avisch
Oh, and try learning to spell before commenting on people’s English skills.
