THAT WAS THE WORST ENDING EVER.
Now that we’ve come all this way through the emotional ups and downs of the most popular show of the Fall/Winter season, I can finally finish off my thoughts on what was one of the best romcom anime I had ever seen. I say “was” because not only was the ending of Toradora completely retarded, but in retrospect it highlighted just how bad the series was as a whole.
For instance, take the lip-rape kissing scene between Taiga and Ryuuji. ghostlightning claimed that Toraodora was a show for the whole family but he couldn’t be farther from the truth. All you had to do was shove in some softcore porn music, stretch it out to 80 minutes and you’d have a 18+ only feature film ready to be sold for £1 out of some cheap back alley porn shop. Even at that price it would probably mean J.C Staff were making a fortune since the animation for the series became little more than idiots scribbling lines indiscriminately, colouring it in and calling it a face.
Not to say that that scene was the lowest the series would go. After getting a stupid, contrived sub-plot about the 2-dimensional character Yasuko and her estranged parents shoved in and resolved within the space of 6 minutes, we get Taiga spouting about how she’s lonely the night after she’s just finished… getting it on with Ryuuji. Because I definitely signed up for contradictory statements and meaningless symbolism about stars and everyone shining as much as they can to find each othe or whatever the hell the MASS TEXTING moment was about. Are we all then expected to by the bullshit that the teacher of this idiotic class (who’s been busy having a mid-life crisis for the ENTIRETY OF THE SHOW) can suddenly impart wisdom on those who she can barely teach?
And then we have a class picture showing how everyone’s moved on, become better people, matured throughout the series.. except for the fact that Ryuuji’s had is face pinched into a forced smile by the two girls who should hate him the most, the man boy himself is holding a Christmas star for no apparent reason and Kitamura’s trying to dog-pile on the lot of them for his hot, sweaty ERO-KAWAII escapades. If that’s not enough, the ending jarringly cuts in at the most innoportune time imaginable and then we have Taiga showing up out of nowhere which brings up the point of why she even left in the first place. And of course everything comes “full circle” with the Toradorable pair narrating more symbolic bullshit. The f*cking end.
As I said before, the awful ending only serves to highlight how awful the series was in general. It’s like every scene in the last episode represents the problems in the series. Symbolism with as much subtley as a 10 Ton Cluebat, music introduced at the most horrible times, dialogue coming from 16 year olds that would fit better in a work by Plato, awful animation and a resolution that had as much a point as trying to wash a car in the rain.
That’s not even getting onto how the ending destroyed the characters. It just left me with a feeling of “WTF, that’s it?” Ami was just a two-faced bitch? Minori was just a two-faced genki/angst-filled dumbass? Kitamura was just completely pointless in every way imaginable? Ryuuji and Taiga go from no open relationship to running away and getting married in the space of a single episode? Did I just waste over 500 minutes of my life on this crap?
I don’t think that there has ever been, or ever will be, a show that screws everything up with an ending as much as this show has. Those of you who still like it after this are ignorant fools. Crawl into a deep hole, wallow in your blind love for this travesty and never show your faces again.
I’ll give you a 2/10 for somehow fitting Plato in there to make it seem like you’re actually serious, but overall too much rage, not enough believability.
❤
sooo, you’re calling the vast majority of viewers of this show, ignorant fools… nice
do i smell an april’s fool or a very pissed of blogger?
anyway thats your opinion
RATING TORADORA AN 8 ON MAL!!! DOES NOT COMPUTE!!!
You’ve been found out! 😀
Yes, I swear I heard you say you actually liked the ending, you april fools liar. Or maybe that was digiboy, but not like I can tell the difference between you two, you’re like two balls in a nutsack.
*BROSHIDOFIST*
LULZ THIS
Well, if anything I think Toradora did Minori rage fairly well.
That’s what I call well-made shit. 😉
Agree with Minori, but not with Ami. However, there was too much wasted potential in making Ami seem (in character) like a Peer-Gynt-esque onion rather than an apple with a core. It all went downhill after, say, episode 23.
“…and then we have Taiga showing up out of nowhere which brings up the point of why she even left in the first place.”
F*ckin’ true… but you get to see her in that black sailor fukku, don’tcha?
Serious entry is serious… isn’t it?
Sorry Omisyth, but I’m not buying this. 😦
[…] for the heart in expense of the head, I didn’t care. Though around 50% of what was said in this post was actually honest problems that I had with the ending, it doesn’t change the fact that I […]
Well I do think omisyth’s rant was mostly an april fools joke. To take just one small part of it, how could you miss the significance of Taiga’s departure and the reasons for it?
She learned from Ryuugi how to handle family problems properly, maturely, without running away. He wished that they could get married with the approval of everyone, and she even said “that would take a long time”. She decided to behave like an adult, giving them a chance to graduate, earning the approval of both their families. When they meet again, he says, “you look taller”. Meaning she has finally, really “grown up” quite a bit.
The “lip-rape” comment pissed me off somewhat. Rape is a crime of violence. How could anyone look at this couple’s loving, passionate kissing, and imagine one was forcing the other? That had to be a troll.
u must be a bloody idiot because u know nothing about toradora. first the star has two meanings. first is to say they understand taiga’s photo reply on the mobiles, the second i that it was her most valuable possession to symbolize how much they care for her.
now ur comment on all mobiles out. it is an anime program they wanted a bit of comic humor in it so the joke is children and technology.
the next point is when she returns. the credits between the two shots suggests time has passed, months. and they finished school which is why she came back. she finished school which means she grew up which is the whole point of leaving.
if u had bothered to watch toradora u would have understood it.
Geez… If it’s for April Fools then i agree… Means all of it was the opposite of what you’ve said…
But if you are dead serious about what you said…
You’re just a critic…
And critics are not liked by the ones who liked the art…
And I like Toradora…
So I don’t like you…
Or rather I just don’t like your opinion…
But, Oh well it’s just your opinion…
If you’re aiming for pissing others…
Then YOU got me…
CONGRATS… =)
It’s even translated in my country…
That was one of the BBBEESSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! aaimes i’ve ever seen. And i agree, that ending was not Bullshit or BULLSHIT, but it was FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
donkey kong bitch
agreed
couldnt of said it better!
Totally agree. It was a worthless ending. Especially the final scene which was really retarded:
“I love you”
Answer: HEADBUTT
toradora is the best fucking shit,, taiga must be happy for successfully separate two people who love each other -,-
i guess if ryuuji knows feeling minori since beginning taiga will become piece of crap,, its better than ending : – |
1.Toradora was good.
2.KISS part i do not care.( Because im not jealous )
3.Ending FUCKING BULLSHIT. ( Why Because the GET separated )
You, sir, don’t get the point of crappy fanservice. It’s the cliché of anime, so if you don’t like it, stop watching anime and leave, cause you are doing nothing for otaku culture. Sayounara, baka.
Yes, it was a terrible ending, but not for the reason some people might be thinking. First off, yes, Ryuuji and Taiga stayed together. You don’t know that unless you watch all the way through the credits, and I really hate it when they pull that nonsense. But take a look at the double meaning at the very ending. The series title とらどら! (Toradora!), but they tack on おしまい (oshimai, concludes) below it. Yes, that’s like saying the series is ending, but remember this. “Tora” is “Tiger” (Taiga), and “Dora” refers to “dragon” (Ryuuji). (I think it’s cool how they put them into one word like that.) “Toradora concludes” also means that they finish, or carry on, their relationship.
But the ending was one of those “Oh, I think I’ll throw in something shocking and unexpected here to make people think I’m clever” endings. There are sound arguments from the plot to make it fit in, but it was totally off the wall. Maybe I’m thinking of this as a writer, but you don’t shoot arrows at your audience for the fun of it. No matter how you look at it, Tora and Dora had made a commitment for life, and when she took off, she betrayed him. That responsibility should supersede all others. That act alone more than makes up for any “maturity” she might have achieved by disappearing for a while. If these were real people, no matter how much he might love her, it could be years before he would be able to trust her again, if ever. She wounded their relationship. On top of that, I figure they did get it on that one night. What would she have done if she’d ended up pregnant? Not very responsible at all. No, it was a clumsy ending. There had to have been a smoother way to work it together.
I know that feel
I’ve better scripts in porn than the ending of Toradora
heeee may i be wrong but imo u wrre 100% newbe in anime when u were writing it. If u dont undrrstand something in anime usually its becouse they had not enought time to explain every think from source (mamga/ light novel)
but its not a big deal. Just type in google toradora ending explain and problem is gone
The whole thing was just a pure waste of characters they could have shown the different complexities in the main 5 but all they did force stuff out of character just for the sake of cliche useless meaningless 2 main characters ending together, Kitamura, Ami, Minori everyone of the characters felt special before they ruined them like whats the point of showing the growth in characters if you gonna forget it the next episode especially in the case of Ami
I know this is over 10 years old, but I find the comment “I don’t think that there has ever been, or ever will be, a show that screws everything up with an ending as much as this show has” very amusing in a post-Game-of-Thrones world. I really enjoyed the series, and even though the ending was bittersweet, I appreciate the decisions made. I still just want at least 2 seconds of seeing Ryuji and Taiga together in the future though
agreed dude I mean the end where she just leaves after accepting the f*****ing marriage disappoints a lot. I love romcom but this I hated the end disappointed me I was expecting them to get married and have kids.
read the light novels…Volume 9 and 10. make sure you read the Epilogue.
This Anime ending blows…
Personally, i hated the last few episodes, i binged episodes 1-23, and a few minutes of 24, but left 24 and 25 to watch a few days later, personally the end of episode 25 isn’t too bad IMO, but Ryjui’s love for taiga is the biggest BS i’ve ever seen. I can believe that Taiga fell in love with Ryjui, that part make sense, but Ryjui’s love for taiga is out off the blue, he seemed to “love” her for ages but not romanically, more akin to what Ami said about the father daughter relationship. IMO the romantic love for taiga felt squeezed in so that Taiga had a good ending, because screw minori right(tho that could have easily been done with Minori and Ryjui). I believe everything about Kitamura, and Taigas feelings. Ami felt screwed over by the whole show. and Minori was in character with what she did, but Ryjuji’s romantic love for taiga felt so forced. Like he’s been deeply having a crush on Minori all until Taiga admits her love.
Minori best girl, her and Ami should have been done better
Ami for sure should have won the battle between him. She was best girl and deserved it
Holy crap you are crazy lmaoo. It was a good show. But the ending sucked. Nothing more nothing less. Also ami was best girl and deserved to win him over. Her not confessing and the ending was bad writing.
Agreed. I have never seen an Anime hose up a story from a light Novel as badly as this one. Volume 9 and 10 of the book was unbelievably superior to the muddled trash of the last episodes of the Anime. I was viscerally angry.
