No, really, I didn’t. I was honestly surprised when I learnt this. The rest of the revelations in the episode, not as surprising.
When I’m watching some shows (be they TV or anime) at times I predict exactly what’s going to happen a couple of minutes before it does. The poison in the drinks, the fact Chiko wasn’t in the suitcase and that corny flashback scene (which would have been better if there were simply voices). There were certain things that were surprising though (like Chiko being tied up below the blimp) and the small amount of action was really well done so, it was still really fun to watch, as we finally got rid of the psychotic White-Haired Devil (whose name we never learn, annoyingly) while finally learning her retarded reasons for killing all those people.
I don’t have much sympathy at all for WHD. She (I don’t understand how anyone thought she could’ve been a man, but whatever) reacted in quite frankly a stupid way when Twenty Faces said he was going to burn down the laboratory. Rather than go with him, who she apparently loved, she decided to artificially corrupt her body because she believed that it confirmed what he said about her, that she had the power to complete their research, even though he never actually said that; at the time, he was praising the light in her soul and her beauty rather than suggesting she mutilate herself for the purposes of science.
Why would she think burning down the laboratory where he believes that they’re doing something wrong meant that the two’s relationship never existed? Just because they met there, doesn’t mean it’s the only foundation of their love. In my opinion, she was as crazy then as she is now (okay, maybe moreso than before, but she’s still crazy). On the other hand, I understand the way Twenty Faces reacted. From his viewpoint, he would’ve seen another productof the research he was putting an end to, not to mention the fact he had told her to get out of there or she’d die and she had completely ignored his warning. She brought everything that happened on herself. However, it was touching, and predictable, that she died when she believed she’d gotten what she wished for: a return of the affection she lost so long ago. To her, Chiko symbolised everything that could’ve been between Twenty Faces and her (minus the age difference and whole “Daughter of Twenty Faces” thing. Maybe the “Wife of Twenty Faces”?) so it was natural that she’d want to make her suffer/kill her. Anyway, she’s (hopefully) dead now, so we can move onto bigger and better things storywise.
Yeah, this is one of those moments when you realise “Oh, he’s going to disappear again”. I’m still not sure why he wasn’t dying or doesn’t even look in pain; he was stabbed 3 times and then shot, what the heck is he made of? Besides that, I do like how the writers are slowly piecing together his history. For example, we saw him as a military general/commander or someting at one point in the past and we see him now when he looks to be a younger and more idealistic scientist, who I bellieve is working for the military. His background seems to be very complicated, so it’ll most likely take a while to explain, but I think it’ll be worth it. In the meantime, CHIKO AND KEN-NII BACK TOGHETHER W00T!.
High speed boat chase. What every anime needs.
Tied up Chiko is good Chiko.
Don’t grimace, psycho woman, it’ll give you ugly wrinkles.
Then Twenty Faces’ll never take you back.
Not like you had a chance, after trying to kill Chiko and her friends all those times,as well as the fact Twenty’s a lolicon, but still…
Why you little-!
No, he will try to raep them!
I’m just kidding, he’ll just try to raep Kaito.
Still kidding, he has a sister complex, so he’ll leave them both and go after the person who looks most like his sister, namely Chiko.
Wearing a coat to big for her counts as weekly Tome-service :3
Woah, language, Ken-nii!
It’s Mistress Chiko to you.
Must’ve been one wild party.
Oh, wait, they’re all dead.
That makes it an EPIC party.
Twenty Faces needs his loli back.
By ANY MEANS NECESSARY.
So shooting you in the face meant he chose you.
Fantastic logic.
What? Since when did this become Mission-E?
Speaking of which, SUBS WHERE?!
Noessss, don’t let psycho bitch kiss you Twenty Faces!
Mistress Chiko will be oh so very angry.
See?
Now you both die.
That’s what happens when you piss off Chiko, foolish man.
Drown!
Though I can’t complain since…
They are reunited.
OHHHHH YEEEAAAAAHHHH.
Oh I found another Nijuu Mensou no Musume buddy beside issa-sa! I haven’t caught episode 12 and 13 but I went ahead and read your reviews. (: It’s rather shocking to me, that the white haired person is actually a she since I always thought that she was a he. Twenty Faces has more magic power than David Copperfield; being able to mysteriously escape death and to return again and again. Overall, ep12 and 13 seem to be action packed. It’s more exciting than seeing Chiko defending against her aunt’s flower pot attacks. XD
Everyone I know and thensome (even my Animesuki friends) are into this. Maybe I should be too…
@Hynvian
Don’t remind me of the aunt; she’s even more pointless in the story than Akine.
@xephfyre
Surprising, considering the lack of coverage it’s been getting; the only other blog I know covering this is Star Crossed.
