A fucking awesome, missile-spam filled, fantastically animated, incredible song remix stuffed, campy, EPIC mecha fighting section that matches the likes of Gurren Lagann in sheer mind-blowingness alone.
A surprisingly peaceful ending section, complete with “You, You”.
And an inconlusive, inconsequential love traingle ending with the traditional “I won’t lose!” statement.
All in all, GOOD END.
Final impressions? For this show?
Haha, no.
WAT? i keep reading nacross f reviews to see if it’s worth picking up as my one mecha for the season since otou-san mentioned i need to have watched the previous macross series to understand the references. π₯
geass deserved a final impression and this one didn’t??? i was under the impression that macross is more viewable thank geass. oh well…
Awesome series overall. I can’t wait for the movie/whatever to come out soon…
@biankita
I’m the prime example of someone who enjoyed Macross Frontier thoroughly without actually watching the older stuff(save for Macross Zero, which bulk of the references are taken from) What you’d be missing are just some of the inside jokes and whatnot, but really, there’s no real need, though it helps.
Also, I love Ranka.
“And an inconlusive, inconsequential love traingle ending with the traditional βI wonβt lose!β statement.”
Let us highlight the inconclusive and the inconsequential part. Pisses me off.
…
I like Sheryl. π
The remix didn’t do it for me, I have to say. There were tunes there with the fibre to sustain the scene on their own.
@biankita
I didn’t decide not to do final impressions because the show was bad, but just because I didn’t wat to get involved (or let myself become engrossed in) the fancamp wars. Not that enough people read this blog for that to happen π
You really don’t need to know anything. As Shin says, they’re just references which don’t have too much of an effect on the plot, and are there just as nods to older viewers,
Geass gained final impressions because 1: I was bloggin it and 2: It warranted both bashing and… more bashing. And an appreciation of the ending.
@kanzeon
As long as there’s more missile spam, I’m all for a continuation. Doesn’t mean I’ll watch the rest of Macross, though.
@Shin
I SHALL REMAIN FOREVER AMBIVALENT.

I SHALL REMAIN FOREVER AMBIVALENT.
@The Animanachronism
I felt that everthing kind of melded into one huge powerful climax; the music helped to show everything coming together, and breaking out new tunes in the last episode is a good move, IMO.
i loved the last ep. and the music was great… I still say Alto-hime will be a great wifu for Sheryl
