It’s got to take some real skill to make zombies boring.
This show, the one I looked forward to most in the Fall season, turned out to be severely disappointing. The TTGL/FLCL character designs weren’t in keeping with the few pages of the manga I read, nor where they suitable for a show hat should be about the gory slaughtering of undead beings. I neveer thought I’d think of an anime as too cartoony. The plot’s kind of non-existent at the moment, but if it’s really just her killing corpses for the next few episodes, it could get boring quick. The music was a forgettable, generic mix of techno and soft guitar or w/e fo the action and calm scenes. No OP, but the ED just had scenes taken from the episode set to more techno pop, both lazy and boring) and the animation was nothing impressive, but what was most disappointing was the voice acting. The lead female character was flat and monotoned no matter what happened, and the traditionally useless/irrelevant/ wimpy male lead had a voice that made me want to punch him in the face.
Why do the creators of these shows keep trying to shove school into potentially interesting plots? First we had Birdy, now we have this. Zombies = interesting, Student Council + Goofy Friends= Boring and Irritating. The next episode looks better (or maybe that’s me just loving Horie Yui’s preview voice :P) but unless this picks up soon, my most anticipated show is getting dumped.
More of this, less of the above.
Of all the complaints…
The female lead voice is maybe flat and monotone because she’s a freakin’ zombie. C’mon, man.
Totally agree with you on here Omisyth. It’s just… bland and boring…
@lolikitsune
Zombie Loan was an anime which had almost an entire cast of zombies. But they didn’t sound like they were making announcements over an intercom.
@kanzeon
Never have I been so annoyed to feel so “meh” about a show.
Oh man. And I was planning on trying this out.
I agree with you Omisyth. Shikabane Hime is a disappointment and I’ve placed most of my this season’s chips on this and Chaos Head (which looks like some lame harem anime from my POV). Hence, now I “outsource” and place my chips in the other series too.
@Avisch
Don’t let me discourage you too much, you might find this your cup of tea.
@Hynavian
Chaos Head turns out much better than it looks, IMO. But I feel your right not to pin too much of your hope on this series.
there is something off about the show. i’m not sure what… i don’t know. it’s like a hodgepodge of characters that don’t mix well together and threw them all in one story. but i’ll give it another episode…
@biankita
Take away wimpy male schoolkid and this could’ve been a much better show.
