Crap, it’s made of fire. KILL IT WITH WATER.
His power is fire and he smokes, geddit, hur hur.
No matter how badass he looks at first sight, Stiyl Magnus is an MMORPG player. For what other reasons could he have a “Magic” The Gathering name like Fortis931? It’s too bad he fell into the classical “confident, over-expositional evil villain” trap; if he’d spent more time killing and less time explaining the way he could be defeated, maybe he would’ve lasted a bit longer. How can saying “you’ll never find all the runes I’ve placed in this building” be in any way helpful? As well as using washable ink, hasn’t he ever heard of permanent marker? It was still hilarious to watch him completely fall apart when he was doused with the Water of Defeat; he even forgot to dodge Touma’s punch like he did the first time. Or maybe that time he used fire to create some sort of mirage or something.
Thuogh I don’t like information dumps in my primarily action/shounen shows (i.e episodes where the characters sit around and talk for hours on end) it was good to see a little more explanation behind Index’s existence. Her creepy library record mode was… well, creepy. I can tell you that (through my amazing study of Latin and/or abilities of deduction and/or just plain common sense) that Index Librorium Prohibitum means List of the Forbidden Books. (Now you have your useless trivia of the day!)Though I’m not entirely sure what John’s Pen is…
You cannot resist the moe, Touma…
At the very least, Touma stands heads and tails above other lead males in some series, just for considering the sensible thing to do in the situation: call the freaking authorities. But, alas, he must become Index’s protector as she’s hypnotised him with cuteness.
Alternating between GAR and FABULOUS is a hard thing to do.
Love the fact he had a Lelouch moment (WATER HAX) followed by…
EPIC PUNCH.
Touma’s right hand is looking a lot less impressive considering he hurt my cute little Index (I’ve only just forgiven him for that. Just.) and him being around her in order to protect her will most likely leave her in the most dangerous positions. Hopefullyu, he doesn’t end up emo-ing about how his right hand always causes things to go wrong; at the very least, it’s a wakeup call for the guy who went from “I’m unfortunate” to “What am I afraid of?” At least the right hand won’t cancel the love between them that is soon to blossom 😛 Interesting factoid: Espers can’t use magic. I thought we might end up seeing some sort of helpless surveillian sidekick show up at some point in this series, but this means that there might be nobody (other than Index of course) who’s completely powerless in the series, which always drags these shows down (remember when Yuuji from Shana sucked? Dark, dark days…)
What is it with the lolis with paperclips in this show?
Calling something Jusdgement just has an inherent sense of foreboding about it. I can already forsee a Magicians V Esper war going on in the background of this story.
O_O.
Loli teacher sokes and drinks heavily. 1. Innocent, yet fearful, image ruined. 2. At least she wasn’t a complete throwaway character like I thought.
Nothing to fault with this episode, in my opinion. Still has great production values and action, and still possesses an intriguing story-line.
Next Time:
Samurai girl with half trousers? SO AWESOME.
The fire familiar reminded me of Naruto for some reason.
Best katana wielding girl of the season is undoubtedly Ga-Rei’s Yomi.
@Shin
Who knows, maybe this girl will trump the badassedness that is Yomi. I wouldn’t bet on it though.
