Jigoku Shoujo, SRS BSNS? Nah…
The OP makes it real debut this time round, and the visuals are much better, though the song isn’t as good as sNoW. And never will be.
Episode 2
O_O
First off, that was one weirdly erotic BDSM scene (not that I condone things like that) somehwere in the middle of the episode. In fact, the entire show seems to have taken a step up in the fanservice department, but I believe this is just to add to the newly comedic tone that the show’s adopted. However, I’m not sure that that’s an entirely good thing. It was hard to take anything in this episode seriously. I’m not normally one to take issue with the plot holes/irrationality of this series, but there when it’s so apparent that things could’ve been done to avoid people getting sent to hell, it’s just irritating that the characters are either under-developed or just plain stupid enough to make all the wrong decisions.
I understand the basic plot and the message/life lesson of the episode: sometimes people don’t want to be helped, even if their in a horrible situtation. It’s not that rare for women in an abusive relationship not to run away of tell someone about it, either due to the fact that they’re scared or that they still love that person despite how they’re being attacked. It’s disturbing but true. What kind of confuses me is the phone call at the end; was that a sign of hope for Akira and Mitsuko’s shouta relationship or the endless ringing of an abandoned soul? Or just someone really in need of batteries?
Football Ai ftw.
There seems to be a specific focus on teenagers and their unending ANGST in the show, which means we have many a raging hormone (as shown by the MILF scenario this episode), but this also has the backlash of immaturity and spur-of-the-moment shitty decisions.
That entire park scene was so badly and cornily done, it was laughable. “A friend told me about this problem he has.” Seriously, could that technique be more overused in every film/tv show/drama? Equally horrible was Yuzuki’a advice. “It’s better not to get involved anymore”. BULLSHIT, it’s because of people just ignoring signs of domestic violence that it’s such a problem in the first place, forget the fact that he “loves” her and wouldn’t want to see any harm come to her in the first place.
Here’s the mental process of a middle-schooler in love with the power to kill a man supernaturally:
Learn that your crush is being abused by her husband? Screw calling the police, send both yourself and him to hell!
Learn that unless your crush answers the phone like clockwork her violent husband shows up to beat the crap out of her? Stop her from answering the phone so that he shows up and beats the crap out of both you and her!
Seiji was a completely underdeveloped character as well. Any reason why he beat up his wife? Apparently, it was because she was his wife. OF COURSE! Hopefully things won’t stay this retarded, or else I may just have to start making fun of this show rather than looking at the moral and philosophical aspects. And the Electric Butt Plugs.
Episode 3
Kira~yuudou
Okay, so we have an idol who used to be a bitch but is now reformed, the girl that idol was bitchy towards but who just cannot sing at all, and the feelings of jealousy/rage/hatred/suffering that the latter holds towards the former. A standard set-up for a standard episode. One thing I noticed about Futakomori is that it applied a lot of variation to seemingly simple cases, and things didn’t turn out as predictable as always. Hell, even in the first season there were some surprises. But this time round there seems to be such a focus on light-heartedness juxtaposed with themes of hatred/suffering/revenge that it just trivialises every case. Hopefully, next time I’ll end up caring more about the characters than wondering what the next punishment scene will be like and screaming in anticipation of an Enma Ai concert.
So, instead of being a completely torturous bitch to Masako, Jun the Idol decides to be condescending and patronising, and yet at the same time, brutally honest with the crazy blackmailing stalker, by telling her she can’t sing for shit and to leave her alone.
Mistakes that Jun the Magical Idol and her amazing awful caretakers make in this episode:
Mistake #1
Going into a dark, secluded alley with a rabid fan. You were almost asking to get flashed.
Mistake #2
That is the shittiest autograph I’ve ever seen.
Mistake #3
Getting so nervous you open a letter from a person you never want to hear from right in front of guests. you wouldn’t have to keep things quiet if you were just a little bit more dextrous.
Mistake #4
Meeting the stalker face to face. That’s just dumb.
Mistake #5
Giving the blackmailing stalker what she wants, an apology. Only it’s not what she wants. What Masako wants is Jun’s life, the life of an idol and everything that goes with it, even if it is a pipe dream. Masako will never have this, and even though she realises it, Jun seems to intentioanllyu shove her own success in Masako’s face, sayin that hip-hop music saved her.
Mistake #6
Acting all superior and “reformed”. Hell, I would be irritated if someone talked down to me like that, no wonder Masako, who had that grudge all these years, contacted Enma.
Mistake #7
Trying to bribe the stalker. That’s a slap in the face to Masako and even more of an incentive to send Jun to hell. Why spare someone who couldn;t even try and bribe you herself. (Note: this is why you should never meet a stalker in the first place i.e Mistake #1)
Mistake #8
Making yourself appear innocent and kind on stage in front of all your adoring fans when the person with the power to kill you is most likely watching you. You’ll appear even more of a douch and then just get sent to hell.
I have to admit, I liked this scene.
The fans are here for your final performance, Idol-chan.

YAOIALERTYAOIALERTYAOIALERT!!!
i am very disappointed the way the season is panning out. it’s become more about what form of service can we expect this episode than it is about the story.
i didn’t like episode 2 at all. it seems so one-sided. even after the husband said that he’s doing it to protect the wife, the old JS would say from what. episode 3 was better, but that’s only because i find it uber fascinating if the “innocent” girl is sent through hell by the “evil” girl.
@biankita
Needless to say it’s much more underwhelming than past season’s; I may love Enma and delisious service, but that doesn’t mean I wan’t crappy plots and underdeveloped characters.
