That’s the amount of brain-power you need to understand this post.
Kurokami
See here. Plot with potential? Check. Amazing action? Check. Interesting characters? Half-check, whatshisnamethemainprotagonist still bores me. Most definitely definitely watching this show, just for more fights. There are so little hand-to-hand combat shows these days, we need to get back to basics!
Maria Holic
SHAFT’s style was always kind of a mystery to me, and I didn’t particularly like or hate it with SZS and here it seemed toned down enough to have a good effect and it went with the show well in my opinion. Overall, production’s solid, though only one BGM track that caught my attention, but I’ve even forgotten that so *shrug*. There wasn’t anything particularly amazing about the show, and it wasn’t even laugh out loud funny, but it had a lecherous lesbian in it entertained me to the extent that I wanted to see the next episode, and if that isn’t the mark of a good show, what is? (Side note: The fact a woman voices the trap just makes things all the more confusing :s)
The Tower of Druaga ~The Sword of Uruk~
If I had looked back to around 1/4 of a year ago I never thought I’d be able to say “this is a great show” about Gonzo again. But they really seem to have finally gotten it right after the travesty that was Dragonaut (JIIIIIN!) It’s a standard RPG setting, for sure, but what I love is that this show never takes itself to0 seriously and there’s actually some level of mystery to the plot as well. Plus the characters develop somewhat (although Jil seems to have gone down a few levels in EXP). Overall, I’m looking forward to seeing them climb the tower again. Oh, and the transforming loli mage is cute and hot at the same time.
Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou
See here. Overall, not a bad way to start off the show, reintroduces characters and reminds us why we got into Natsume in the first place. Natsume’s definitely more of a bishie, mostly due to the better character animation for him and the fact they’ve decided to bold up his mascara eye-shading ^^.
Asu no Yoichi
This was the best overall episode of the first season, excluding Natsume of course (but I’m not even sure that should count as I got what I expected from that show). Good production characters, a cast of characters completely likeable from the get-go (and they didn’t all fall for the main character in twenty seconds, yay!) and some great comedy. Except for the changing room raep. Harima already did it better. The BGM was quite good too, though the OP and ED were easily forgettable. I found nothing that I disliked about the show and a lot that was surprisingly impressive, so I’ll be keeping up with this one for sure. Plus it had trumpets in the eyecatch. F*CK YEAH, TRUMPETS.
This is turning out hiorribly, I’m supposed to cut down on currently airing shows to watch my backlog of awesomeness (mushi-shi, Aria, Ghost Hunt) but it’s gettin’ mighty busy with good shows this season as well. Please, shows I have no expectations for, be even lower than those expectations!
I reject your reality and substitute my own. Kurokami > Asu no Yoichi
Asu no Yoichi’s first episode was average at best in my opinion, and it seems I’m also going to have to go with nazarielle’s reality here.
@nazarielle
Watashi wa kyouzetsu suru!
@Emperor J
To each his own.
Wow, Harima really does raep better. Did’ya see Akikan? Since it has jokes relating to homosexuality and other funny stuff as well 😛
@Aizen
Meh, trying to cut down on shows this season (aforementioned backlog). General consensus is that it ain’t amazing, so I think I’ll pass. Plus the premise just irritates me when I think about it
Kurokami – Yes
Maria Holi – Hella Yeah
Asu no Yoichi – Not too sure…
I haven’t seen Druaga nor Natsume first season, so I haven’t jumped on them.
Maybe it’s time I started on the first Natsume!
Kurokami – yes! it is just the effect of the HD version. doesn’t that chick look a little… um, green?
Maria Holic – maybe
The Tower of Druaga ~The Sword of Uruk~ – only saw the fake episode 1 of season 1 and found it funny. never can quite understand why i never got around following it.
Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou – hell yes
Asu no Yoichi – *oh noes* samurais. *shudder* harem. it was ok giving it s’more episodes.
good luck with this + backlog + uni ^^
@53RG10
Damn right it’s time you watch Natsume. As for Druaga, it gets better as the show continues but it’s not anything special.
@biankita
Kurokami: Meh, s’just the lighting. Still looks great, even in 704X396.
Maria Holic – DOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOIT.
Tower of Druaga – Absolutely nothing like that episode at all throughout the rest of the series. You can pass, you aint missing anything phantasmagorical.
Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou – ^^ bb
Asu no Yoichi – Not so much a harem as a small collective of girls who know, but do not immediately fall in love with- yeah, it’s a harem, WATCH IF YOU DARE.
Meh, I’ll be fine. Missed out on Cambridge (;_;), so now all my offers mean I barely have to try to get into a uni lol.
