One show from backlog down, more than 10 to go :s
I’ve pretty much watched all I’m going to from this season, so I’ll just consider this a wrap-up of the last four shows.
Chrome Shelled Regios
Though I can’t fanboy out for this show as much as Aroduc can, I can at least say that it’s a step up from a lot (count em’: two) RPG shows that I’ve seen. Animation’s good, characters aren’t irritating and the BGM isn’t bad either (OLD SCHOOL TECHNO FTW). Storyline’s standard: guy who appears average has awesome powerz and must fight with a group of peers to save something or other. Once again, I am an action whore, so I’ll probably stick with it; it’s already a step above Kurokami in that it had more action and less of an annoying protagonist (seriously, whatshisname suuuucked in the second episode.)
RideBack
The first 16 minutes of the episode bored the hell out of me. The set-up’s partially dystopian and therefore typical and uninteresting and the main character doesn’t appeal to me much. But… for reasons not mentioned here I must watch this show. That’s not to say there weren’t good things about it. Madhouse are great as ever with the animation, though I dislike the CG as it didn’t really seem to “fit” the show for me. The BGM, in particular during the racing scene at the end, was great. And that brings me to what I like about the show: the RideBack scenes (shock!). The last 6 minutes were great; if anything, they should focus less on the heavy-handed metaphor of flying and/or reaching new heights and more on the subject matter in the title.
Watched the second ep, and it did just what I’d hoped it would. Watching for sure.
Munto
Well this didn’t suck as nearly as much as I thought it was going to. Though they decided to ignore the laws of physics with the fact the entire outside world seemed to have some strange glass floor which was meant to be rain, I didn’t find much to fault with the show. The animation was great for the fights, though slightly inconsistent at times and the BGM suited the whole fantasy feel. Characters are kind of flat, but first episode of a fantasy series, I wouldn’t really expect much. Though there’s a lot of new terms thrown all over the place, it was relatively easy to become immersed in the show, which is one of the more important things (at least according to nazarielle). Overall, not a bad start and I’m sure to check out the next episode. I just hope they get away from the dodgy 13 year old kid marrying some random gangsta angle, pointless and wrong in so many ways.
Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo
I’ve got almost nothing to say about this show, other than it was extremely boring for the first 16 minutes and then entertaing when Lelouch Giant Screaming Spastic AI showed up. I’m kind of on the fence, but I’ll at least check out the second episode and hope they try and plug the crazy AI rather than that marriage subplot (at least, I think it was subplot.)
I thuoght after seeing over 120 shows I’d be a bit more critical of anime, but once again I’ve ended up watching all the shows I’ve sampled from this season. Then again, I passed on Akikan, Erin and Maria (as well as a bunch of other shows that I can’t be bothered to look up) so it’s not as bad as it could be. Kurokami just started on a downward slope, solely because it’s main protagonist suuuuucks so that may lighten my load a little, but otherwise, I’m just as busy I was last season *sigh*.
Also, Lost is back (f*ck yeah), Spectacular Spiderman is back (f*ck yeah) and I just learned that FMA 2 is premiering in April (F*CK YEAH!!!).
Munto’s “glass floor” is related to how the main girl sees the world: a mirror to another world.
Regios shows promise, but it could just as easily go down the tubes, depending on where it goes in the next few episodes.
I still haven’t gotten around to watching past the first episode of Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo, Rideback, Kurokami, or Munto. Damn Fate/Stay Night VN taking up all my time :<
And sweet, my one attempt at meta gets an honorable mention :p
I find the Ridebacks weird and odd looking…but I would surely like to have one!! ^_^’
I’m not completely sold on Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo…but a simple thing as seiyuu {Makino Yui & Fukuyama Jun} make it a watch. Munto’s the same, but with fantasy, fighting and KyoAni!!
I haven’t gotten on Regios yet, even with my brother’s constant
naggingrecommendation, but it’s on my list and will get to it later on…probably halfway through the season…>_>@Extrange
I do realise it, and that this is primarily a fantasy show, but I can’t help but think it’d have an even greater effect if there hadn’t been rain beforehand.
@nazarielle
Your welcome ^^.Don’t bother with SoraKake, it gets real boring, real quick.
@53RG10
Me no care about seiyuu. Me want good show!
Yeah, a good show with unknown seiyuu is always preferred over a crappy one with famous seiyuu…but in a season with not much promise, I’ll take that crappy show with my favorite seiyuu to enjoy this free time I get.
{I should something productive instead…but meh, I’m lazy…-_- }
