Because I’ve run out of ideas I think some may want to know my opinion.
K-On!: Lucky Star + Kannagi = overrated music anime.
Pros: MOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Cons: Inconsistent art, “light” music in show is awful, characters aren’t interesting.
Sticking around?
Doesn’t have much else going for it other than amusing facial expressions. But hey, I’ve seen comedies ten times worse, so maybe.
Pandora Hearts: DOLLS ARE CREEEPY.
Pros: Crazy gothic yandere girl. Crazy gothic servant boy.
Cons: Bad art, uninteresting lead.
Sticking around?
If the focus shifts towards the mindf*ckery that was present in the two minutes of awesome, then definitely.
Asura Cryin’: It’s not necrophilia if she’s a “projected existence”.
Pros: Fantasy/Mecha setting, potential of the plot, good art, OMGWIN OP.
Cons: The Hippy Male Lead, “School Life” setting.
Sticking around?
Combination of fantasy and mecha intrigues me and the show could go any number of ways. Probably in it for the long haul, if they drift away from the high school part of the show.
Saki: No board game anime will ever be better than Hikaru no Go.
Pros: good art, MOEEEEEEEE, dramatic Mahjong segments.
Cons: WAY too confusing for anyone who hasn’t played/ doesn’t like Mahjong (i.e me).
Sticking around?
No way I’m learning Mahjong for a show, especially as the game doesn’t seem at all interesting to me.
Shangri-la: Cross-dressing gives you the abilioty to defeat armed soldiers.
Pros: Nice landscapes.
Cons: Pretty much this.
Sticking around?
Dear God no, hated almost every aspect of it. SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT BEFORE MORE OF THIS SHIT GETS MADE.
Natsu no Arashi: Exploding strwaberries and time travel.
Pros: Interesting premise, nice style/tone (LOL Shaft).
Cons: Boring characters, comedy’s not my type, mediocre art.
Sticking around?
I’ll give it one more episode, but otherwise, the show just doesn’t interest me.
Tales of Valkyria: IT’S TIME FOR SOME MOTHERF*CKING DEMOCRACY.
Pros: Great art, female lead who doesn’t completely suck.
Cons: Standard RPG (i.e boring premise) animu, weird texturing across everything, male co-lead who does completely suck.
Sticking around?
Most likely not, unless something amazing happens to convince me in the next episode.

MOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! I took a sneak peek at K-on!’s manga and there wasn’t much about music either, but heh, I’m already in love~
Ditto on Saki; no idea what’s going on, but they did look cool doing it, even if it was ridden with mistakes.
so you think it pretty much all sucks, huh. i almost vomited after seeing shangri-la, and i think valkyria gave me the measles. but k-on! healed several of my non-specific diseases!!! Yay!
I could tell you that unless A-1 butchered the plot completely, Welkin makes a pretty big come back from his extreme suckiness, though I don’t think that’d change your outlook on Valkyria.
K-ON: Moe is enough for me…besides, I ♥ girls with instruments…even if they don’t know how to play them.

Running out of ideas aside, this post will be performing a vital public service if only one less person tries to put themselves through Shangri-La. And at least your dismissals allow the likes of me to ignore various other rubbish with a clear conscience. Will part 2 collect multiple optimistic first impressions, or just deal with Basquatch?
