Perhaps it was wrong of me to think this but I expected that there would be more actual music in K-ON. It wouldn’t be compared to the likes of BECK or NANA (both of which I haven’t seen but I’ve heard are about music. Also, all three shows are spelt with capital letters. Weird) since they’re “deeper” than K-ON will ever be, but I still expected something more than I actually got. But, we are only 5 episodes into the show, so it’s understandable considering that Yui had no prior experience to playing the GITAH (and yet seems to have gotten pretty good in the space of a few weeks).
The OP and ED are among of the best this season, in terms of music at least. Cagayake’s lead irritates the hell out of me, though, so I’m glad for the “instrumental” option on the single. What little music within the show there is seems good to me, but I’ll listen to anything except for reggae (and even then I have to make exception for the greats i.e Bob Marley) so I’m not the most impartial of judges. In the case of the OP, what I really dislike is that the first 4 bars or so sound deceptively “heavy” in comparision to the rest of the song. It’ll never be deceptive as some other OPs I can think of, but it’s still disappointing.
What I’m really hoping for (probably in futility) is that the music will end up going more in the direction of Sawako-sama (i.e WILDER, WILDER) than whatever the hell Mio came up with. I mean, “Light and Fluffy Time”? Seriously? What is wrong with you people? There’s got to be a problem when Ritsu the spaz is the one who’s making the most sense. Give me more DEATH DEVIL. Though to be honest, KyoAni will probably do a good job with the School Festival™ song considering Haruhi.
Incidentally, Sawako-sensei is clearly the best character in the show so far. Better than Mio at least.
THIS~
Ritsu’s the spaz??? She’s the only sane one in the whole show!! 🙂
I as well am kind of disappointed that there isn’t much music, as they are IN A BAND.
Also, I never thought Mio was that great, and Sawako Sensei is clearly best character. The wilder the better.
I was actually surprised – I didn’t have to struggle to watch till the end. Overall enjoyable episode and as you wrote, sensei is the most interesting character -although I would prefer to see more of her wild side 🙂
As for the song’s lyrics – I so hoped they wouldn’t agree… but then again there is this part about broken nail in the ending too… At those times I just feel happy I dont understand japanese, as long as I dont read the subs it’s ok ;))
Incidentally? Ironically is more appropriate in my opinion.
You can only squeeze a bowlful of water out of a wet sponge at best, not a pool, and definitely not an ocean. That sounds about right.
This isn’t Haruhi, though.

Meh, you’ll always get a certain level of FLUFFY FLUFFY in anime such as this, you’ve just got to learn to accept it.

Where’s the irony? That the mild mannered teacher is in fact NOT SO!?

I won’t stop until I’ve wrung enough moisture out of the sponge that it turns to dust.
@Sorrow-kun
I just meant that in a show done by the same studio with a band of girls performing at a school festival (similar to Haruhi) there is a reason to be optimistic about it.
Hell the World By Death Devil is the best song on the whole show… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl_Wnn5ow7o You totally have to check it out… Then awnser me… Altought NANA is still my favorite Musical Anime… I’ve only watched Nana, Full Moon Wo Sagashite and K-On!
