Better than the one month anniversary and 50,ooo hits post combined.
So, one year on I can honestly say that I don’t mind that I missed the trip to Venice.Without it, I’m not sure if I would’ve started the blog since there were a few things in that single week that contributed to this.
In some ways it’s been quite a turbulent year for anime blogging in general. There’ll always be new bloggers with PASSION and a BURNING WILL to express their opinions, but I’m not sure if they (or I) can replace the older ones who seem to be disappearing and/or fading away right and left. Some of the culprits include coburn (not “old” exactly, but he did stop writing…), Totali, Korasoff (Edit: He’s alive!) and a whole bunch of the staff at Random Curiosity (especially Natrone. He was so awesome). Oh, and biankita (where did you go ;_;?)
Then we have the few that seem to be fading away ever so slowly, like THAT and Epic Win (altough I think, think that the 5th time’s the charm and they really are back. Maybe.) And let’s not forget the slowbloggers, bateszi, IKnight and Owen. All I can say is write more than once a month please!
Of course, I can’t forget Yukan! Blog or OiHayaku! either. blissmo’s the person who inspired me to start blogging in the first place (one of those “things” I mentioned in the first paragraph). I think we all miss her bunny suicide comics. As for OH!, we were all set to destroy the world of anime blogging and rebuild it anew, becoming the Grand Emperors… but then we didn’t. It seems that there’s a strange trend that any team blog I join dies not long after. Damn. In any case, I thank both blissmo and Riex for giving me the chance to expand my anime and blogging knowledge and exposing me more to the community.
But even as the old fade out, there are still new (and excellent) bloggers to take up the reins and keep the discourse going: ghostlightning, Kiriska, moritheil (at Anime Diet and TMR) and animekritik to name a few. Sooner or later, we will fully revitalize the blogosphere!
Of course, what’s an anniversary post without thanks to all the other bloggers I’ve come into contact with and have supported this site by reading, commenting and linking: TheBigN, kanzeon, Omo, nazarielle, JPHinanoCombo, FuyuMaiden, Gargron, glothelegend, Baka-Raptor, digiboy, Michael of Low On Hit Points, fangzhao, lolikitsune, Rabbit Poets, The Soujourner, zzeroparticle, lelangir, Shin, Kairu, adaywithoutme, Sakura, 53RG10, usagijen, Ryan A, Eternal, Extrange, animewriter (who “gave” me the header for this post), Sorrow-kun and many others.
As well as any other people I’ve met through the TWITTERPOCALYPSE or the GOOGLEREADERPOCALYPSE.
Rather than reminisce fondly, I’ll just point you tto what I consider some of my landmark posts that, as Owen says, you will probably not click on or re-read:
My first thought out editorial on an age-old argument.
First post on me refining my tastes, and a moment of e-nnui.
First EXPLOSIVE discussion on the blog.
First critique of a genre I know almost nothing about.
Second EXPLOSIVE discussion, but this time as a Round Robin.
Thanks to all and hopefully I don’t become a slow blogger or completely run out of ideas. To another year!
The thing that’s even more enjoyable than taking the opportunity to air your musings on anime is being able to interact with the rest of the anime blogging community and needless to say, that’s been an extremely enjoyable part of the whole process. So here’s to yet another year of excellent discourse and posts from your end.
Cheers!
Congratulations! I still remember my own one year anniversary like it was yesterday!Believe me, before you even realize it, youll be making this post again! Also wwww at the Marisas on the sidebar 乙
Congratulations to your anniversary!!! More power ^^. Here’s for more years to come~ Cheers!
Spin on!
I shall now improvise a poem to celebrate:
There was a man
named Omisyth
One year old
is now his site
(I’m in a rush to get to work)
For a second there, I thought Baka-Raptor was doing a limerick there. 😛
Congratulations. :3
Congratulations sempai! I’ll never forget your support with your shoutouts, in getting me in OH! (I had ways to find out), and for writing in WRL. It’s deeply appreciated and you’re always welcome.
Congrats! Hm come to think of it today would have been my 3 year anniversary of exfansubber hitorigoto had it still been alive today 😥
Remember when you called this place “Anime Chatter”? I never bothered to change the name of your blog on my feed reader, which I arrange alphabetically, so the only reason I actually visit here regularly is because your blog is towards the top of my list. Nah, just kidding, you’re awesome.
Congratulations, keep up the good work, hopefully this is the first of many.
Congrats, pal! I truly enjoy reading here. Don’t you dare fade away! d-(^_^)
avoid the nemesis
row row fight da powah
congratulations, keep up the awesome!
Grats on reaching your 1 year anniversary!
Good on ya for hitting such a milestone.
Congratulations…and now that you’ve achieved this, start saving for that trip to Venice!!
We can totally be anniversary buddies, ’cause even though Sunday was my first entry on my blog, today would have been my first substantial anime-related entry. So there. 😮
I like how our header pictures have the same cake. Or maybe all cakes just look like the Portal cake in Japan.
Anyway, congrats, man!
Google Reader’s first service to me: Leading me to your anniversary post!
I am happy for this accomplishment of yours, and do persevere on!
Happy anniversary and congratulations!
Congratulations on your one year anniversary and I hope you have many more. I’ve always enjoyed reading your posts and I check your blog regularly for new stuff.
I think the reason for the heavy blogger turnover is that most anime bloggers begin writing about anime anywhere from late high school age to university age; this is a point where anime fans have a extremely high passion level for anime and they want to express their thoughts and feelings about their hobby. But, sooner or later, real life collides with that passion; grad school, first RL ball buster job, or first RL high maintenance GF, and anime blogging gives way to RL demands.
@Chris
Yes, I’ve noticed this pattern often.
Congratulations and Happy First Anniversary~!
Though I just lurk around your posts…and everyone else’s, I do read and enjoy your posts. Keep it up!
Wow, has it only been a year? I always assume you oldhead bloggers have been around for decades, pounding out posts ever since the gold rush days of yore. 😉
Congrats!
Congratulations! I thought you were around for longer than that… Then again, I think every blog has been around longer than mine but that’s obviously not the case lol.
I would write something witty here, but since I don’t want to stand out as somebody ‘different’ and ‘weird’ and thus get expelled from the cool anibloggers’ social circles, I’m going to go along with the flow and type a generic response.
Congratulations. Ponytails turn me on.
Well, there goes my attempt at e-peen. Come see me sometime in the pit of shitty aniblogs.
Congratulations. I cant wait for my one year anniversary post too.. 😀
[Magical Ferret]
Congrats! I hope you will eventually like Prunus Girl!
how time flies.

Bah, blog backlog. Happy blogniversary, though! Let’s hope you outlive the 2-year mark.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone!
Congratulations!
Haha, awesome way to reminisce about the past year. Nice to see some recognition of the sense of community anime bloggers / fans seem to have as well.
Late for the boat, but… OMEDETOU!! Glad to see this turned out quite an Epic Win experience for you! More power! ^^
Oh, Congratulations! You’ve achieved GODHAND.
Congrats con leche! =3
