I love this show in the same way that I loved Basquash after seeing it’s first episode. It’s cliched in so many ways, but those cliches don’t bother me. The animation isn’t that good, especially considering Madhouse is at the helm, but it’s good enough that it doesn’t detract from my enjoiyment of the show. But the main reason I like Needless is because it’s so completely over-the-top.
A lot of people have been comparing the show to Sengoku Basara and TTGL, and while it’s not as good as either of those shows, it emulates their absurdity well. Everything’s ridiculous and exaggerated, from the comedy, to the characters, to the action, to the music (ELECTRIC GUITARS EVERYWHERE).
He has a Holy Hand Grenade. A HOLY HAND GRENADE.
Even when it uses stills, they’re at least animated in some way, so it doesn’t look as bad as if only a single frame was used. It’s well directed as well, so that when stills are used they’re used on the more dramatic moment (i.e dodging a rocket or slamming a HOLY HAND GRENADE into a robot). As with Pandora Hearts, although the animation isn’t great, the art direction is, and the shifts in art style keep things interesting.
I’m also still enough of a kid to laugh at people getting hurt , so the comedy appeals to me. It’s based off of a gag manga, so this type of thing’s to be expected.
Ah yes and the ED. It is in keeping with the idiocy of the show and it’s almost like a “Screw You” to Equality Now, so that’s okay by me!
Aroduc said it was for the Jump generation, and I both read and like Naruto, One Piece and Bleach, so I guess this is my kind of show.
Side Note: I also like how the show has some references to Fist of the North Star as well. Also, screw the haters.

This is crazier than either of those at episode one. Needless to say, this will usurp TTGL and Basara. Not that I care. I’ve grown indifferent to stuff like this. I’m waiting for my Spicy Wolf.
That picture of the dude getting hit with the motorcycle is almost enough to make me watch this. Almost. My interest has been sparked at the least.
Thou shalt count to three. Not two and not four, but three. Thou shalt not count to one, and five is out of the question.
By the way, ED was good. I fap to it every time I see it.
I didn’t find it to be well directed or well-animated, and I see no reason to watch this over any other repetitive action show. Look at that still with the motorcycle. Aside from comically floppy Cruz as he gets mauled, the character designs and animation are stiff and wooden. Look at homeboy’s cape! It doesn’t move, except when it needs to for dramatic effect. It looks like it’s made of rocks. As are his abs (is that a 24-pack?)
I ain’t hatin’. I just… hated it. I’m not saying I won’t give it another chance though. If the action proves to be worthwhile or the humor steps it up a notch (if it was a gag manga, it certainly isn’t one on the level of say, DMC) I’ll stick to it. I don’t need much to be entertained, I just didn’t get much of anything out of this.
BROFISTTT!
And screw the bastards who think they know better than what they actually do.
It doesn”t have to all be intellectual and deep stuff which people rave about for being “genius!” (AKA Eden) nor stupidly over moe’d sugar inducing, tooth decaying shenanigans (AKA K-ON) all the fricking time, when stuff like this being completely over the top manliness and comedy can easily be the top for anyone who is looking for some relaxation time and a chance to let off some steam through laughing after an all days hard work.
Hah…
