This show is awesome.
First off, I love the OP; J-Pop and Techno go well together, and the animation is quite good. Speaking of which, the art in the show in general ahas really started to grow on me, I cannot get enough of the character designs, and as such, I love every character in the show, even the ones who haven’t had much development yet (except for Kitamura. I’ll get to that later.
Episode 2
Hell, there was mounds of development in this episode. From the cookie scene, to the lightpost scene to the confessions scene and its aftermath, they creators seriously made me feel for Ryuuji and Taiga. Being misunderstood is definitely a common thread between the two, and Ryuuji’s proclamation that he’d stand by Taiga from now on as an equal (WRONG. BOW BEFORE TAIGA-SAMA.) shows just how strong the relationship between the two has become over a short period of time. I especially liked the metaphors in the lightpost scene; with each kick both of them got rid of some frustration and began to become reolute in carving new images for themselves in the eyes of others. Taiga beating the crap out of the classroom may have helped too.
In contrast, Kitamura and Minorin got almost no developement and remain side-characters who I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever. Kitamura in particular seems like an ignorant dunce; who the hell says “Let’s be frIends” after a confession and then just abandons the person who’s managed to gather up the courage to to talk to them? Thankfully, we all know that Taiga’s going to fall in love with Ryuuji eventually, so it doesn’t really matter.
Episode 3
GENKIGENKIGENKIGENKIGENKI.
No-one should be that genki! I do love Minorin’s cheerfullness but I doubt that she’s really all positive all the time. This episode contained less about developement and was more of a quick look into Minorins character, though we still don’t find out why she wants to kick logic to the curb, pierce the heavens with her drill and spiral onwards is working so much and trying to quash her fear. I hope her home life isn’t absolutely terrible, but just moderately displeasing. This show doesn’t need to have such emotionally scarring themes. I have to admit, it takes some mad skillz to bead all those phones. Now I understand why Ryuuji likes her so much; she can do anything and everything at once, all with a smile on her face. Plus she is moeeee~. Did I mention I love the character designs in this show?
Kitamura still sucks though. If crushing Taiga’s feelings last episode wasn’t enough, this time he almost goads her by saying he was watching her closely last year, all with that stupid, simpleton grin on his face. MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND, BOY. You deserve better than a man who can’t say things straight, Taiga. Moe bike learning is moe. (Must stop typing moe so much).
Obligatory Ryuuji abuse.
Cryptic comments from Haesslich and other indicators suggest that the next episode might tell us more about Kitamura and/or his past interactions with Taiga. Whether we’ll end up liking him more after that is an open question.
lol toki wo kakeru shoujo. XXD
oh god.. we have clashing opinion on minorin. XD loved episode 2 but was kinda disappointed by episode 3.
Kitamura is “okay”, but Ryuuji is so adorable. I love Minori as well and can’t understand why some find her annoying. I suppose she’s not always cheerful either, but hopefully when she’s upset Ryuuji will be there to comfort her!
Ok, on the previous episode, Kitamura made my head hurt, and now, it’s Minori…
@ The Animanachronism
I actually hope we don’t. If that happens, I’ll root less for the RyuujiXTaiga end.
@Kairu Ishimaru
TOBE!
@biankita
Opposites attract, right XD?
@blissmo
Moe moe Ryuuji is moe.
@kanzeon
Minorin makes my head hurt in a good way 🙂
Ah, I’m going to catch episode 3 of Tora Dora tonight on tv. For episode 2, I think Kitamura has handled the confession well by not breaking Tiaga’s heart that badly. ^_^ Nice guy, he is.
@Hynavian
I haet Kitamaura. He dissappoint Taiga-sama -_-
