IT HAS ARRIVED!
The moment you’ve all been dreading waiting for!
Well, since I started blogging at a prime time (right at the end of the spring season :P) this will actually be my first season of episodic blogging; I hope to include some other articles as well (though none as long as this, that took AGES) but for now, here’s a list of my opinions of the current season and what I’ll be blogging; a Summer Snapshot, if you will.
Ikkitousen Great Guardians
Though the subs have slowed down, I still intend to watch the series in all its fighting glory. It’s awesome and I’ve already commited myself to the series through watching the first two for THE FANSERVICE some inexplicable reason I can’t think of.
Antique Bakery
Cakes= Yes
Yaoi= NO.
Cakes + Yaoi= NO BLOODY WAY.
…
Strike Witches
Due to the fact the number of *ahem* questionable shots seems to have decreased (as much as it can in a show like this) and the action is still good (though half the plot can be pretty much copypasted from Sky Girls) I’ll be keeping up with this one; its a short length so there shouldn’t be too much LOLFILLER and it’ll hopefully focus on blowing things up. Oh, and accepting someone’s death, fulfilling wishes, cameraderie, flying high, and all that stuff.
Slayers REVOLUTION
Haven’t watched the originals and I hate going into sequel series (except for Macross Frontier, though that was more of a remake than a sequel) so unfortunately I’ll pass. Have fun, you old seasoned bloggers, you.
Mahou ni Taisetsu Na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~
So far, so charming. I’ve yet to see the second episode but the first one was quite good and it had a lot of OMG LOOK AT THAT ANIMATION! points, which is always a plus (heck, its one of the only reasons I watched True Tear :p). Not blogging, but avidly watching.
Ryoko’s Case Files
Detective/cop show with a supernatural twist? So in. THe plot was interesting and the animation decent but I really liked Ryoko’s character and Izumida seems to offset her enough for a great report between them. Plus it had exploding mummies. Awesome.
Sekirei
BEWBS! It has high speed action, superpowers, a harem and a mad professor. But it also has the idiocy of the male lead. Other than his very existence, I’m quite into this. And we have yet for the rest of the chracters to show up. Plus we have Homura, who is badass at the moment. Ninja mask plus fire power = the coolest Pokemon Sekirei so far.
Birdy the Mighty: DECODE
Awesome show is still awesome. Though I’m not crazy about Senkawa and his perverted school chums (plus Hayamiya, who I actually like) zombie aliens, bugmen, fire-shooting, obliteration punches and gay managers make this the best show of the summer, for me at least. For now, I’ll be blogging it over at Yukan! until otou-san wishes to take over, then I’ll probably shift it over here.
Telepathy Shoujo Ran
The OP was horrible and I don’t care what anyone says. I can’t even remember what the ED sounded like; maybe it had someone running? I don’t know. But it wasn’t that impressive, the second episode was kind of stupid with lots of Ran angsting, Ran’s good friend making Ran her SWORN ENEMY as Ran beat her at a 6 question test (and afterwards calling her a freak and alienating her within the space of about 40 minutes) and then a dogfight (a literal fight with a dog). So, no.
Hidamari Sketch x365
Even if it looks RIDICULOUSLY cute and has slice-of-life written all over it and is done by the greatness that is SHAFT, I can’t watch it without seeing the original. I know it’s a slice-of-life show and that doesn’t really matter, but…*shrugs*, it’s just a hangup. I’ll definitely be looking into the orginal though.
Chocolate Underground
You know there’s a problem with a show where people cause a huge amount of damage to the scenery, possibly thousands of pounds worth, to get a single bar of chocolate. It’s worse than Toshokan Sensou in its ridiculousness, it’s 5 mins per episode which means practically nothing actually happens, the animation is below average and I don’t care about any of the characters/events that occur. This chocolate’s leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. (I’m full of witty genius like that.)
No thanks.
Zero No Tsukaima III
I never intend to watch this series, nor its predecessors. Not even if it’s so very SHINY ^_^.
Mission-E
When I saw Code-E, it was a struggle to keep my head up. But I persevered because I wanted to find out what would happen when Chinami got control over her powers. So I waited. And waited. And waited. And it didn’t happen. We just got a lot of emo and BERSERKER ELECTRICITY. The show didn’t even end well. So my my reaction upon hearing of a sequel was oh dear merciful god not another one less than enthusiastic. But after seeing sentai Chinami and hearing of action scenes (in MY boring as hell show!?) I was looking forward to it. Putting up with all of the first season may finally pay off. But alas, SUBS WHERE!?
World Destruction
It has the best OP of the whole season, and yet the worst lead (excluding that guy from Sekirei whose name I can’t remember). However, it is entertaining in a so stupid it’s entertaining sort of way. Plus it has a kung-fu teddy. I’ll probably stick with this and maybe even blog it just to make fun of it; I like doing Caps Galore! posts. I can ridicule as much as I want in bite-sized comments. God forbid I’d actually make a post with some substance. Well, this is getting really off topic so I’ll just say Morte is kickass and leave it at that,
Natsume Yuujinchou
Captivating. Serene. Just two words to describe my impression of this show. It had a good balance of comedy and seriousness, and managed to make an evil Ayakashi pitiable using a single flashback. It’s great, and if it keeps up this kind of strength, it’ll get even better. Blogging for sure.
Blade of the Immortal
Meh. Nothing really struck a chord with me. Plot is kind of jumbled at the moment. Manji’s an all right character though he faints randomly. Really don’t have much else to say, maybe as I already did a post on it. But the kid who threw the rock at the beginning is Manji’s dead sister’s dead husband?! OMG! Not really, I don’t care much about this, but I may continue checking it out.
Ultraviolet Code #044
The american movie was HORRIBLE and the show’s influenced by that. From what I’ve heard from THAT and Tenka Seiha, it’s not even that good. And the subs have yet to appear. Everything is pointing squarely at the NO pile.
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
Eh. Might watch it, probably not. Already pointed out reasons to/not to a few days ago, and this time there’s no surprise AMV to keep me entertained. No amount of moeness and Misatos drunken sisters will keep me watching if the comedy goes away. I mean, what’ll be left? Relationships? Love? Anime references? So unless the second episode makes me laugh as much as School Rumble does (and that will take some doing as School Rumble is the funniest romcom anime EVER) then I won’t be watching it.
*******
So that means around 8 or 9 shows plus some carrying over from last season (SUBS WHERE for Zettai Karen Children!?) which is plenty to keep me doing extracurricular reading for uni busy. I really need to watch some fantastic shows sometime so I can raise my standard; I’m just too accepting. But god knows there are no good television shows on since Doctor Who ended (except for the ever-incredible Weeds) and I don’t feel like getting any new games (God Of War 3 trailer announced, FUCK YEAH!) so hopefully I’ll be able to handle my first full season blogging shows well.
And we end with some Klein ^_^
No, don’t do it! Every time someone watches Strike Wtiches, God kills a kitten! =O
Okay, maybe not, but I just really dislike loli fanservice (Zero no Tsukaima is an exception). Well, to each his own.
I’m glad you’re blogging Natsume, since I feel that this actually has substance. Hopefully.
Cakes = Yes
Yaoi = YES.
Cakes + Yaoi = YES BLOODY WAY.
I’m sorry we can’t all think the same way. :]
BUT I do agree with you on Mahou ni Taisetsu na Koto – Natsu no Sora, Natsume Yuujin-chou, and Chocolate Underground.
And as for Blade, I THINK that kid was Manji’s sister’s husband cause it flash-backed when he was fighting Manji but hell, who cares. He’s dead anyway. 😛
Lol, yaoicakes!! XD
I get shouted at on IRC for calling Antique Bakery Yaoi.
I haven’t seen the first season of X365 either but this season was more like a retelling… i’m still gonna look for the first season though and will watch the second.
oh yey! cake pr0n! ^^
Besides Mahou Tsukai Yuujinchou Underground Bakery x365, there’s nothing else this season which screams “watch me!”.
I think it’s pretty safe to watch x365 without going through the first Hidamari Sketch since all the episodes are jumbled up and are one off anyways. Of course if you’re going to follow the first series first, then by all means go do it (NOW).
@dingsan
It better have substance or I’ll be sorely, sorely dissapointed; I may even die a little inside ;_;
@Hoshi
How can you be so heartless? No-one really cares he’s dead or remembers what his name was, but still…
@Teeif
Maybe you should start calling it “The Show About Male Chefs Who Starve For Men Indiscriminately”.
@biankita
Why are people so vulgar about cakes? Cakes are confectioneries just like chocolate, and yet no-one says “chocolate pr0n”.
@issa-sa
“Tweet Tweet!”
(That’s the sound of Birdy screaming “Watch me!”)
I’m so funny I’m on fire!*sizzle*
